She will share a bit of her own experience eating/learning about food systems all over the Chesapeake region, talk about strategic food system work, and engage in some Q&A. Curious Iguana Bookstore will be on hand to sell books and Renee is happy to sign them.  Renee is the Member and Strategic Partnerships Manager for the Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems Funders.  She will have a lot of wisdom to share.

The fee is donation based.  Cash, checks and online donations can be given before or during the event.  If you can’t participate, Please donate online here.  (click the blue)  When you make your online donation please indicate that it is for the Food Council.  Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy beforehand and stay for the Food Council meeting following the talk.

Hi Farm to School Friends!

I wanted to give you an update on Farm to School.  A lot has been happening!

Monocacy Elementary School:  March 29th the Farm to School team hosted an Apple Taste Test at Monocacy Elementary School.  Another huge success!  (The first one was in February at Lincoln Elementary School)

Hillcrest ES & Starbucks Volunteers:  Our Starbucks volunteers donated supplies and helped build garden beds for Hillcrest Elementary School.  Thank you Kaitey Nutty and her Starbucks team for all that they have contributed to the Hillcrest Garden Project.  Kaitey donated all of the supplies needed to build the garden beds and Zoe and her colleagues came out to help build the beds.

Monocacy ES & Garden Lesson:  Thank you Master Gardener Partner, Kim Leahy for kicking off a garden day with students at Monocacy Elementary School.  The students were very excited and thrilled to be gardening!

Waverley ES and Build Day:  Thank you Mark Gregory and Waverley teachers that bought supplies and came out to help build garden beds for students.  Gardening will start next week with working with 3rd grade students to mix up a special soil mixture for the square foot garden beds!
